With the goal of helping other congregations most effectively use their God-given gifts to the fullest, Christ Lutheran Church in Phoenix, Arizona, started the Best Practices for Ministry Conference. The conference was presented free of charge to all who attended. Participants were greeted with warm hospitality, great speakers, and practical workshops. The Conference has grown greatly since its start.
Two years ago, Carmel Lutheran (now Cornerstone Lutheran) brought the concept of the conference to Indiana to make it more easily accessible to more congregations "in the Heartland". St. Peter's Lutheran in Columbus has assumed the leadership of the Best Practices for Ministry: Heartland conference for 2017 & 2018.
Rather than choosing a theme other than "Best Practices for Ministry", BPH2018 will focus on Networking. This has been an integral part of every "Best Practices" conference in Phoenix and in the Heartland, but BPH2018 will be more intentional about providing opportunities and spaces for this to happen. "Focus Groups" will be hosted during the Breakout times. Specific rooms will be set up for formal network discussions. Presenters will be asked to gather names for ongoing networking on their topics. Our emcee will give permission for informal networking. Please let us know if you have other specific suggestions to improve networking:
